Three sides of La Jolla provide access to ocean bluffs and beaches. As such, this seaside community is ideal for beach life and those who love the water. Whether you enjoy swimming, kayaking, boating, or just laying in the sand, this is the neighborhood for you. Of course, there are also plenty of shops and attractions to keep you entertained when you're not on the ocean.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Dining opportunities abound in La Jolla. Visit Brick & Bell Cafe during early morning hours for a coffee pick-me-up paired with a scone or come for lunch and enjoy your meal on the outdoor patio to take in the sunshine. Just a few of their lunch selections include a turkey and avocado sandwich, California veggie club, chicken grape salad, and a special soup of the day.

The Cottage is the epitome of California cuisine. This eatery offers morning hours through early afternoon only. Eat your breakfast inside the vintage home-turned-restaurant or have your lunch served up outside. The patio is surrounded by a white picket fence to give you a serene and peaceful feeling while you dine. Enjoy a slice of coffee cake, lemon ricotta pancakes, Southern California omelet, soy chorizo hash, or an avocado smash sandwich.

Bobboi Natural Gelato is the ideal place for dessert. Sit and enjoy the view of the ocean as you experience the cold sensation of a delicious gelato treat. Each one is made with organic ingredients that you can feel good about eating. Just a small sampling of their many flavors include pistachio, salted caRUMel (salted caramel with rum), rosewater & honey, and Julian apple pie.

When you find yourself in the mood for shopping, two main choices offer a variety of stores in the area. The Shops at La Jolla Village are an excellent choice, as is La Plaza La Jolla. The first is an open-air shopping center made up of a plethora of shops, restaurants, beauty stores, and fitness opportunities. The second follows suit with the open-air theme, offering numerous chances for finding the clothing and home goods you desire as you stop for food in between shopping sessions, or try the other businesses located within the area.

Things To Do

La Jolla offers plenty of things to do to keep you occupied. Relish in the views surrounding you while you golf at Torrey Pines Golf Course. This iconic venue features two different 18-hole courses and offers an on-site hotel, restaurant, and pro shop.

Hidden Swing is a favored hiking area in La Jolla. Make your way up the hills and through the trees as you attempt to navigate your way to one of the hidden swings somewhere along the paths. Many appreciate the views of the ocean and the neighborhood homes below.

Yet another popular choice is Blacks Beach. This area combines a trailhead and hiking paths with a secluded beach. It makes a great location for surfing, and provides incredible photo opportunities. Dogs are even allowed at certain times so you can get your canine companion in the water for a swim.

The Cave Store is a tourist attraction you don't want to miss. You'll navigate your way through an old bootlegger's tunnel before you find yourself in a sea cave made of sandstone.
